Genevieve Nnaji Returns to Television in New BBC Thriller WAHALA

Nigerian screen legend Genevieve Nnaji is officially making her return to television in the upcoming BBC drama series WAHALA.

Filming has officially begun on the six-part thriller, which is being adapted by BAFTA-nominated writer Theresa Ikoko from the acclaimed novel WAHALA. The project is being produced by BBC Studios and Firebird Pictures for BBC iPlayer and BBC One.

The highly anticipated series boasts an impressive cast including Adelayo Adedayo, Deborah Ayorinde, Cush Jumbo, Susan Wokoma, alongside Genevieve Nnaji.

Set in London, WAHALA follows the lives of four Nigerian-British women whose close friendship begins to unravel after the arrival of a wealthy and mysterious new acquaintance. As tensions rise, long-buried secrets, fractured loyalties and devastating consequences threaten to destroy their once-unbreakable bond.

Genevieve Nnaji’s return to television has already sparked excitement among fans across Africa and beyond, with many eager to see the Nollywood icon back on screen in a major international production.

The series further highlights the growing global recognition of African stories and Nigerian talent within mainstream international television.
