Ghana Airport Company Locks Up McDan Aviation Private Jet Terminal Over $4.1 Million Debt

The Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) has taken decisive action by locking up the McDan Aviation Private Jet Terminal, popularly known as Terminal 1, over a substantial debt owed by the company.

According to a letter dated July 18, 2024, and signed by the Managing Director of GACL, Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, McDan Aviation Co. Ltd. owes $4,125,745 in unpaid rentals. The letter highlights the company’s failure to meet its financial obligations, leading to this measure.

“The debt, which spans a significant period, has remained unpaid despite numerous reminders and engagements with the management of McDan Aviation,” the letter stated.

GACL’s decision to lock up the terminal underscores the seriousness of the financial breach and its commitment to ensuring contractual obligations are met. Terminal 1, which serves as Ghana’s premier private jet terminal, has been a notable hub for luxury aviation services since its launch.

McDan Aviation is yet to issue a formal response to the development. However, this situation raises questions about the company’s future operations and the impact on Ghana’s private aviation sector.
