In a major shake-up for the global entertainment industry, Netflix has reportedly won the fiercely contested bidding war for Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and is set to begin exclusive negotiations to finalize the acquisition, Deadline confirms.

The streaming giant is said to have offered approximately $28 per share, largely in cash, securing what insiders describe as the strongest and most compelling bid on the table. The move comes after a fast-paced and competitive auction process triggered in October, when WBD opened itself up to formal offers following repeated approaches from Paramount.

According to sources, today’s bidding frenzy reached a dramatic peak as Paramount made a bold attempt to outmaneuver Netflix at the last minute. However, Netflix ultimately prevailed, positioning itself to take control of one of Hollywood’s most storied studios and its extensive library of film, television and streaming assets.

This acquisition, if finalized, could dramatically redefine the entertainment landscape. Bringing the Warner Bros. studio, HBO Max and the broader WBD portfolio under Netflix would mark one of the most significant consolidations in media history, blending Netflix’s global streaming dominance with Warner’s century-long legacy of film and TV production.

WBD reportedly aimed to secure a deal by mid-to-late December and with Netflix now entering exclusive talks, the finish line appears closer than ever.

As the industry awaits official confirmation and regulatory scrutiny, one thing is clear, the future of streaming and studio power dynamics is about to be rewritten.
