After years of building a formidable global career, Nigerian music superstar, Tiwa Savage, is turning her focus back home.
The award-winning singer recently announced the launch of the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation (TSMF), a new initiative dedicated to empowering emerging African creatives through access, mentorship and world-class music education.
In a statement shared online, Tiwa declared: “After years of building globally… It’s time to build at home.” The announcement signals not just a new chapter in her career, but a broader shift toward legacy-building and industry development.
Born in Lagos and raised partly in the United Kingdom, Tiwa Savage’s journey into music began long before she became a household name across Africa. She studied Business Administration at the University of Kent before enrolling at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in the United States. A foundation that sharpened both her artistry and technical skill.

Before stepping into the spotlight, Tiwa worked behind the scenes as a songwriter and backing vocalist for international acts, quietly building industry experience. However, it was her return to Nigeria that would define her career.
In 2010, she burst onto the Afrobeats scene with KELE KELE LOVE, a record that introduced a fresh, confident female voice into a male-dominated industry. Her debut album ONCE UPON A TIME solidified her status as a leading force in African pop music.
Over the years, she has delivered multiple hits and projects, earning accolades and becoming one of Africa’s most recognisable female artistes. She later signed international deals, including a landmark partnership with Universal Music Group, expanding her global footprint and positioning her as one of Afrobeats’ foremost ambassadors.
From headline performances on major international stages to brand partnerships and cross-continental collaborations, Tiwa helped redefine what global success could look like for an African female act.
With the launch of the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, the superstar appears to be shifting from individual achievement to ecosystem development.
In an industry where many talents struggle due to limited access to training, funding, and professional guidance, initiatives like TSMF could help bridge critical gaps.
For Tiwa Savage, this move represents a powerful legacy statement: building platforms that outlive personal fame.
