Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar Burna Boy has officially been confirmed as one of the performers for the historic FIFA World Cup 2026 Final Halftime Show, becoming one of the African stars set to perform on football's biggest stage.
The final, scheduled for July 19 at the New York New Jersey Stadium, will feature the first-ever Super Bowl-style halftime show in FIFA World Cup history, produced by Global Citizen and curated by Chris Martin of Coldplay.
Burna Boy joins an impressive lineup that includes Justin Bieber, Madonna, Shakira, BTS, internationally acclaimed conductor Gustavo Dudamel, the PS22 Chorus, and Coldplay.
During the 11-minute spectacle, Burna Boy is also expected to perform "Dai Dai," the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, alongside Shakira.
Speaking on his inclusion, the Afrofusion star said it is both "a privilege and a responsibility" to represent Africa on such a global platform, adding that the performance will celebrate football, culture and unity while supporting access to education for children worldwide.
The groundbreaking halftime show will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise $100 million to expand access to quality education and football opportunities for children around the world.
FIFA has confirmed that more than $50 million has already been raised, with $1 from every World Cup ticket sold being donated to the initiative.
Burna Boy's participation further cements Afrobeats' growing influence on the global stage and marks another major milestone for African music at one of the world's most-watched sporting events.
