The National Service Authority (NSA) has received GH¢40 million from the government to roll out basic military training for National Service personnel.
Director-General Ruth Dela Seddoh announced the funding on Wednesday at the inaugural National Youth Forum organised by the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment. She said President John Dramani Mahama provided the allocation specifically to support the programme.
“His Excellency, the President, John Dramani Mahama, has given us 40 million Ghana cedis to begin the basic military training for National Service personnel,” Seddoh stated.
The training is designed to equip service personnel with skills in discipline, resilience and other basic military competencies. The announcement came during a forum that brought together young people and agencies including the Youth Employment Agency, the National Service Authority and the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme to discuss youth employment, entrepreneurship and skills development.
The forum also featured calls for stronger financial support for young entrepreneurs. Sherif Ghali, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs, urged the establishment of a National Youth Development Fund backed by legislation and financed through a dedicated share of national revenue.
