The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has told the Minority in Parliament that it does not require a special motion or an order from the Speaker to invite him to appear before the Public Accounts Committee.
Speaking at the Government Accountability Series on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, Gyamfi said he was ready to respond to claims linking GoldBod to losses recorded under the Bank of Ghana’s Domestic Gold Purchase Programme (DGPP).
The Minority has called for a parliamentary probe into GoldBod’s operations, citing reports of approximately US$1.7 billion (about GH¢22 billion) in losses under the programme in 2025. It has accused the institution of using the central bank as its “alter ego.”
“There’s been a call for a parliamentary probe and I’ve already stated on public record that I’m waiting with bated breath for Afenyo-Markin’s invitation. And I don’t know why he’s delaying and holding press conferences when as Minority Leader, he can get a Public Accounts Committee to summon me tomorrow or today and I will appear,” Gyamfi said.
“You don’t need any special motion. You don’t need any special order by the Speaker. Just get Public Accounts Committee to invite us and come and sit down there and come and demonstrate to the whole nation where the Gold Board made losses or how the Gold Board is to blame for losses made by another institution. We are waiting for that,” he added.
Gyamfi said he had contacted Majority Leader James Agalga to facilitate an invitation if the Minority delayed the process, stating he was prepared to appear as early as the following day.
