The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed as false circulating reports claiming that the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy has been cancelled and that parents must pay GH¢1,500 for chop boxes, trunks and other items.
In a statement, GES confirmed that the Free SHS policy remains fully in effect. It stressed that the Director-General does not have the authority to cancel the national programme.
The education service warned parents, guardians and students not to make any payments based on the unverified claims spreading on social media. It urged the public to rely solely on official GES channels for accurate information on school requirements and admissions.
GES said no such directive exists and advised families to disregard the false information to avoid falling victim to potential scams as schools prepare for the academic year.
