Ghanaian comedian Jerry Ashinyo is set to stage his second comedy special, Only Fans, on 22 August at Alliance Française in Accra. The show will be Jerry’s first major solo project since 2023, when he released his first comedy special, Out of My Mind.
Speaking on the Big Convo segment of the Culture Daily morning show on 3Music TV and Pluzz 89.9 FM, Jerry said the new special is a collection of material he has developed over time.
He described a comedy special as similar to a music album, with different pieces of comedy brought together into one performance.
Jerry said he had planned another show in 2025 but had to put it on hold after his mother fell ill and died.
He said the experience also provided material for his comedy, particularly the events surrounding her illness and death.
“I think it’s just timing,” he said when explaining his long break from solo projects.
The comedian said Only Fans will feature adult-themed material and warned audiences against bringing children to the show.
The event will also feature comedians including Clemento Suarez, Jacinta, Uncle Kubby, Lexi the Comic, Kojo PJay, Parrot Mouth, General Ntatia, MJ the Comedian, Oh Joo, and others.
Jerry said the special is strictly for people aged 18 and above. Standard tickets are priced at GH¢150, GH¢250 and GH¢300.
The comedian, who is also part of The Half Serious comedy group, said he hopes the show will contribute to the growth of stand-up comedy in Ghana.
