President John Dramani Mahama, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to reducing unemployment and expanding economic opportunity, placing the government’s flagship 24-Hour Economy Initiative at the centre of his State of the Nation Address .
The programme, which has received parliamentary approval and dedicated funding, is designed to stimulate continuous production across key sectors including manufacturing, services and agro-processing. By promoting round-the-clock operations, the initiative aims to maximise infrastructure use, enhance industrial output and strengthen domestic value chains.
According to the President, the 24-Hour Economy Authority has been allocated approximately $110 million to operationalise the policy framework. The initiative is projected to generate an estimated 1.7 million jobs, positioning it as a cornerstone of the administration’s broader strategy for inclusive growth and economic transformation.
President Mahama indicated that the policy builds on employment gains recorded in 2025, which he said contributed to nearly one million Ghanaians moving out of multidimensional poverty.
He maintained that sustained job creation, productivity expansion and private-sector participation will remain central to the government’s efforts to consolidate economic recovery and improve living standards nationwide.
