Dancehall icon Beenie Man has reaffirmed his deep connection to Ghana, his fans and his enduring legacy during an engaging appearance on Culture Daily.

Speaking candidly on the morning show, the Jamaican legend highlighted the spiritual and cultural ties between Jamaica and Ghana, describing them as inseparable.

“I think every Jamaican is from Ghana. We are the same spirit,” he said, drawing loud reactions in the studio.

Reflecting on his early career, Beenie Man shared a striking detail about the period when he recorded one of his most iconic songs, SIM SIMMA.

“I was driving my own BMW when I made SIM SIMMA,” he revealed, a statement underscoring his independence and early success long before industry glamour became the norm.

The revelation reinforced his long-standing reputation as an artiste who built his career through consistency, originality and self-belief.

Despite his commercial success, Beenie Man emphasised that money has never been his primary motivation.

“It’s not about the money. The money is always good. It’s all about the fans and the people.”

According to him, audience connection and cultural impact remain the true measure of success a philosophy that has sustained his relevance across generations.

The dancehall veteran also set the record straight on his creative process, stressing that he has always been deeply involved in writing his music.

“I’m a different artiste. I like to write my own songs. The majority of my big songs, I wrote them myself.”

He went on to highlight the sheer scale of his catalogue, stating that he has 187 number-one songs and over 2,500 recorded tracks, an extraordinary feat in global music history.

During the conversation, Beenie Man spoke fondly about his relationship with Ghanaian Reggae-Dancehall star Stonebwoy, describing their bond as long-standing and genuine.

“Stonebwoy is my friend. I met Stonebwoy when he had no locs.”

The comment offered insight into the mutual respect between both artists and highlighted Beenie Man’s early support for African talent.

Explaining his decision to headline Rhythm & Brunch, Beenie Man made his love for Ghana clear.

“I accepted this event because I love this country.” His remarks reinforced Ghana’s growing reputation as a cultural hub that continues to attract global music icons.

Beenie Man’s appearance on Culture Daily was more than an interview it was a celebration of shared heritage, artistic longevity and the unbreakable bond between Africa and the Caribbean.
