Fashion entrepreneur Osebo The Zaraman has revealed that before becoming known for his distinctive fashion style, he worked as a DJ where he showed media personality and entrepreneur Bola Ray how to scratch on turntables.
Speaking in the Big Conversation segment of 3Music TV’s Culture Daily morning show Osebo recounted his early years in music after returning to Ghana from Italy in the late 1990s.
He said he developed his DJ skills while living in Italy, where he travelled regularly between Verona and Vicenza to learn the craft and eventually performed under the name DJ Richie Rich.
According to him, his return to Ghana led him to establish relationships within the country’s entertainment industry, particularly through his sound equipment business and the now-famous PlayStation recording studio.
Osebo said he met Bola Ray through mutual friends and often joined him at Radio Universe.
“I used to go there with my turntables to jam with Bola Ray,” he said.
He recalled playing at several events alongside Bola Ray during the period when DJ culture was gaining popularity in Ghana.
The fashion entrepreneur said his investment in high-quality sound equipment also made him a sought-after figure in the industry.
He noted that artists and DJs including DJ Black, Buk Bak and others frequented PlayStation Studio, which became a hub for music recording and production.
Osebo said his passion for music eventually gave way to fashion, partly because many events requiring his services took place on Saturdays, which conflicted with his religious commitments.
Today, he is better known for his fashion brand and unconventional style, but he maintains that music played a significant role in shaping his entrepreneurial journey.
