Jamaican reggae artiste Fantan Mojah has passed away just a few weeks before his 50th birthday after battling heart-related complications.
His death brings to an end a career spanning decades that earned him accolades as one of the pioneering voices in contemporary conscious reggae.
According to sources, Mojah died on the evening of Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) in Kingston.
His booking agent, Vertex, disclosed that the artiste's condition took a different turn shortly after returning from the United States to Jamaica.
“Since he came back from the United States, he was hearty, but over the past week, he started to ‘tek down’ and was admitted to the UHWI, last night, he was vomiting blood, and that was it. He passed away,” Vertex said.
Born Owen Lennox Moncrieffe, Fantan Mojah was one of the new generation of modern reggae artistes who favoured uplifting topics in their lyrics.
He is most recognized for songs such as Hail the King, Corruption, Hungry, Stronger, Thanks & Praise, Nuh Build Great Man featuring Jah Cure, Most High Jah, and Rasta Got Soul.
He was widely loved by reggae fans across the Caribbean, Africa, and Europe.
