Award-winning rapper Sarkodie has sparked conversations online after sharing a candid message about the demanding nature of late-night performances, particularly at events held outside Accra.

In a post shared on his X account, the rapper explained that while he understands the vibrant nightlife culture in many towns outside the capital, performing at extremely late hours takes a toll on his body and energy levels.

According to Sarkodie, his performance energy peaks around 1 a.m., and anything beyond that begins to affect his physical condition on stage.

“To my people in most towns outside Accra, I get that you guys love to party till morning. But as a performer, my energy is at its highest level until about 1 a.m. max,” he wrote.

The rapper further pleaded with event organizers to schedule his performances earlier so audiences can enjoy the best version of his act.

“Any moment after that, my body starts to shut down… So I’ll plead with you guys to try to have me on stage much earlier so you can get the best out of me.”

Sarkodie also pointed out that performing around 4 a.m. is exhausting and unhealthy, emphasizing that such schedules are “not normal for the human body.”



His comments have since generated mixed reactions online. While many fans agreed with him and called for better event organization, others noted that all-night partying has long been part of entertainment culture in several parts of Ghana.

The post also shines a light on the physical demands musicians face behind the scenes, especially artists who travel frequently and maintain high-energy stage performances throughout the night.
