Ghana
was represented at the just-ended 54th NAACP Image Awards by
American actress and singer Sheryl Lee Ralph.
On her Instagram page, the Emmy Award-winning actress posted a picture of herself wearing a Kente gown designed by Ghanaian Fashion Designer Pistis Ghana.
The NAACP Image Awards also took to their Instagram and posted a picture of her on the red carpet wearing the outfit.
The
dress was a blend of brown, mustard and orange, having kente pattern ruffle sleeves, a beaded bodice and a
mermaid silhouette skirt with an additional brown train to it. She adorned
herself with a ring and a pair of earrings, completing the look with a ponytail.
Sheryl
was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at this
year's NAACP Image Awards for her part in the popular ABC comedy ABBOTT ELEMENTARY.
As
Ghanaian artistes continue to gain popularity on the international stage,
Ghanaian designers are doing their part to stand out with their immaculate
fashion sense.
The
NAACP Image Awards are presented yearly by the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in the US to recognize outstanding work
by people of colour in more than 80 categories of the arts, entertainment, and
culture.
