The advancement of technology has opened the world up to numerous experiences and the most common one is the use of social media in the dissemination of information amongst other things. Besides its advantages, there are also some disadvantages and negatives of social media perpetuated by those who use it in service of their perverse interests. There have been several instances where users have willingly shared explicit content of themselves and at other times, that of others on social media.
The question still lingers, what influences this decision to post such imagery? In a culture which caters to the prevalence of perversion, some people have been known to post explicit imagery to gain attention, for money and several other mundane reasons while arguments have been made that some just lack a sense of modesty and integrity.
The internet however in spite of all its usefulness has consequences. The popular saying, "The internet never forgets" has been popularized in light of this because regardless of the option to delete, once posts are shared and sent online, it is impossible to undo what damage it can potentially cause.
The internet's open source nature makes it open to people and users from all walks of life, hence exposing individuals to all kinds of dangers, from exposure to strangers, predators and pedophiles amongst others who might use the information for the wrong purposes. To be guided, explicit images should not be posted online.
