Ghanaian actress Salma Mumin has addressed the ongoing public commentary surrounding her body, calling out the constant scrutiny, mockery and judgment she has faced over her appearance.
In a heartfelt statement, Salma made it clear that her decision to alter her body was deeply personal and done solely for herself, not for public approval, opinions or to meet anyone else’s standards.
“The constant commentary about my body has gone too far, Words are not harmless. Words have the power to affect a person mentally, emotionally, and psychologically in ways many people underestimate.”she wrote.
The actress explained that she changed her appearance because she wanted to and because she was not satisfied with how she looked before. She emphasized that her choice had nothing to do with trends, validation or external pressure.

“Whether my BBL is obvious or not whether it fits what you would have chosen for yourself or not, it is what I wanted. And that should be enough,” she stated.
Salma also condemned the way personal opinions often turn into cruelty online, noting that no one deserves to be spoken about in ways that erode their peace and wellbeing.
Calling for empathy and accountability, the actress urged the public to be more mindful of the weight their words carry and to speak with greater care and humanity.
Salma Mumin’s statement has since sparked conversations around body autonomy, online bullying and the psychological impact of constant public scrutiny, especially on women in the spotlight
