AI Skills Becoming A Key Advantage In Ghana’s Job market - Jobberman

Job seekers who understand how to use artificial intelligence (AI) tools are gaining an advantage in parts of Ghana’s labour market, although employers are still placing greater value on human judgement and practical skills, according to recruitment platform Jobberman.

Speaking on the Big Convo segment of Culture Daily on 3Music TV and Pluzz 89.9 FM, Jobberman’s Community Marketer, Benedicta Oklu, said employers in some industries are increasingly looking beyond traditional technical qualifications to candidates who can work effectively with AI.

She said roles such as prompt engineering, where workers instruct AI systems to generate specific outputs, are becoming more common, particularly in the technology sector.

However, Benedicta stressed that AI knowledge alone is not enough to secure a job.

She said recruiters continue to assess candidates’ communication, attention to detail and ability to defend the work they present during interviews.

Jobberman’s Product Analyst, Clifford Sarpong, added that AI has made it much easier for applicants to produce polished CVs, making recruitment more challenging.

He said the company’s recruitment process now relies on additional screening measures, including skills assessments, portfolio reviews and interviews, to identify candidates with genuine competence.

Sarpong said AI can speed up recruitment by matching applicants to vacancies and helping job seekers complete their online profiles, but recruiters still review applications before recommending candidates to employers.

The discussion also highlighted concerns about applicants relying too heavily on AI-generated content without checking for errors, warning that employers increasingly value candidates who combine technological skills with critical thinking and sound judgement.
