Bryan Mbeumo Completes £71 Million Move to Manchester United

Manchester United have officially completed the signing of Cameroonian forward Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford in a deal worth up to £71 million. The transfer includes an initial fee of £65 million, with a potential £6 million in add-ons based on performance-related clauses. Mbeumo has signed a five-year contract with the Red Devils, keeping him at Old Trafford until 2030, with an option for a sixth year.

The 25-year-old, who enjoyed a stellar 2024–25 campaign with Brentford, scored 20 goals in the Premier League, finishing as the fourth-highest scorer in the league. His consistent performances caught the attention of United’s new manager Rúben Amorim, who is leading a summer rebuild at the club.

Speaking after the move, Mbeumo described Manchester United as the club of his dreams and said he was thrilled to make the step up to one of the biggest teams in world football.

Manchester United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, praised Mbeumo’s goal contributions and positional flexibility, calling him one of the most productive players in the Premier League. Mbeumo is capable of playing on either wing, centrally as a second striker, or even as an attacking midfielder — versatility that fits seamlessly into Amorim’s tactical vision.

Mbeumo joins fellow summer signings Matheus Cunha and Diego León as part of United’s reshaped attacking line. He is expected to travel with the team for their upcoming preseason tour of the United States, where they will face West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton in preparation for the 2025–26 season.

This move marks a significant milestone in Mbeumo’s career and highlights his rise from a promising talent at Brentford to one of Africa’s most valuable exports in European football. It also signals Manchester United’s intent to return to top-tier competition after a disappointing 15th-place finish last season.
