Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Maphya, has officially unveiled his much-anticipated album SOUNDZ OF LUNGNI, a nine-track project that reflects his roots, culture and personal musical journey. The release marks his first major body of work and signals the start of a new chapter for the artiste as he introduces audiences to the sound and spirit of Lungni.
Built around themes of resilience, identity and lived street experiences, the album blends energetic dancehall rhythms with moments of introspective storytelling. Through the project, Maphya showcases his distinctive artistic style while giving listeners a deeper look into the influences that shape his sound.
The album keeps collaborations to a minimum, featuring only one guest appearance from Ghanaian reggae-dancehall star Ras Kuuku on the track WHERE DEM DEY. The collaboration brings together both artistes’ gritty vocal delivery and strong Reggae-Dancehall influences, adding an extra layer of intensity to the project. By limiting features, Maphya allows the album to centre largely on his own voice, message and sonic identity.
SOUNDZ OF LUNGNI includes the tracks THANKS & PRAISE, LUNGNI, JUNGLE, EVERBLAZING, WHERE DEM DEY, featuring Ras Kuuku, OBI DI BA, UP & STRONG, AGONY and the closing record BOLGA TO KPASSA. Across the nine songs, Maphya explores spirituality, perseverance, and cultural pride while representing his background through sound, style and storytelling, making the album a strong introduction to his evolving artistry.
