Camidoh’s Should've Been Nigerian Documentary Offers Intimate Look at His Resilience and Creative Process
Camidoh

Ghanaian artiste Camidoh is giving fans an unprecedented glimpse into his life with the release of a documentary accompanying his new EP, Trust and God. Launched just days before his 3Music TV interview on The Big Conversation, the documentary captures the emotional and creative journey behind the six-track project, which dropped on July 25, 2025.

In the interview, Camidoh revealed that the documentary, produced over a month but conceptualized years ago, was born from a desire to tell his story authentically. “I dream beyond myself,” he said, describing how he pitched the idea to go beyond a standard interview, collaborating with 3Music TV’s production head, Ijeoma, to create a visually compelling narrative. The documentary includes re-enacted photoshoots, such as underwater scenes symbolizing resilience in unnatural environments, and candid discussions about his struggles with depression, heartbreak, and the pressures of the music industry.

A poignant moment in the documentary highlights Camidoh’s connection to his Ghanaian roots, addressing comments that his sound could have made him a bigger star in Nigeria. “I love Ghana,” he asserted, acknowledging Nigeria’s vibrant industry but emphasizing the ease of maneuvering in Ghana despite its financial constraints. He also tackled the misconception that Ghanaian artists must emulate Nigerian styles to succeed, stating, “I make music from within, and it’s authentic.”

The documentary and EP together showcase Camidoh’s evolution, from navigating personal losses—like the passing of a childhood friend and a supportive fan, Auntie Gifty—to celebrating milestones, such as being the first Ghanaian to hit 100 million YouTube streams with “Sugarcane (Remix).” With plans for more music and potential tours, Camidoh is poised to keep fans engaged, proving that his journey is as inspiring as his music.
