Ghanaian food entrepreneur, Chef Mamle, is bringing a fresh culinary experience to Accra as she prepares to host the Accra edition of her growing food event, The BUFFET EXPERIENCE, on May 1.
The self-taught chef, who has spent nearly 4 years building a catering and foodservice brand, shared the inspiration behind the event and her journey into the culinary industry during the Independence Day celebration episode on Culture Daily.
Chef Mamle revealed that her path into the food business was not originally planned. She studied accounting and only discovered her passion for cooking during her national service.
According to her, access to food during lunch breaks at her workplace was difficult, which pushed her to start bringing meals from home.
“Eventually I started preparing weekend stews and soups for colleagues,” she explained. “Gradually it grew into providing corporate lunches for offices.”

That small initiative later expanded into a full food business that now handles corporate lunches, event catering, conferences, weddings and private gatherings.
Despite her growing reputation in the industry, Mamle describes herself as a self-taught chef, relying on passion, creativity and hands-on experience.
“Chef is also a skill,” she noted. “When you have the passion and you keep practising, the experience also builds you.”
The BUFFET EXPERIENCE was created out of Mamle’s love for travel and cultural exploration. She wanted to design an event that not only serves food but also promotes Ghanaian culinary heritage.
Unlike traditional restaurant buffets, the event combines food with networking, music and social activities.
“When you go to a buffet at a restaurant, you mostly just eat,” she said. “With this experience, you get to meet new people, connect, enjoy performances and explore different dishes from across Ghana.”
Previous editions of the pop-up food event have been hosted outside Accra, including locations around the Volta Lake area.
This year, the experience will take place in Accra for the first time, scheduled for May 1 (Workers’ Day) at Bayview Village.
The event will feature: more than 40 Ghanaian dishes, local snacks and traditional drinks, live performances and entertainment, networking opportunities and interactive food exploration.
Chef Mamle says the goal is to represent culinary traditions from all 16 regions of Ghana through a diverse food display.
“It’s eat-all-you-can,” she explained. “You come with friends, family or even your corporate team and explore.”
Early bird tickets for the event are currently priced at GHS 400, with the standard price set at GHS 499 after March 15.
Tickets are available online through ticket platforms and selected partners.
With Ghanaian food culture increasingly gaining global attention, initiatives like The BUFFET EXPERIENCE are helping spotlight the country’s rich culinary diversity while creating social spaces around food.
