Chris Brown, the 36-year-old American singer, was arrested in the early hours of Thursday, May 15th, 2025, at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester, England, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. The arrest is connected to an alleged assault that occurred on February 19th, 2023, at Tape nightclub in Hanover Square, London. In this incident, Brown is accused of attacking music producer Abraham Diaw with a tequila bottle, followed by punching and kicking him while he was on the ground. Diaw reportedly required medical treatment and used crutches during his recovery.

Following the incident, Diaw filed a $16 million (£12 million) civil lawsuit against Brown, alleging severe and lasting injuries.  Brown had not returned to the UK since the alleged assault until his recent arrival in Manchester on a private jet, ahead of his upcoming Breezy Bowl XX tour. Upon learning of his presence, authorities arrested him at the hotel around 2 a.m.

As of now, Chris Brown remains in custody while the Metropolitan Police continue their investigation. His representatives have not yet issued a public statement regarding the arrest. It is unclear how this development will affect his scheduled tour dates in the UK.
