The 2025 Guinness Ghana DJ Awards brought together the country’s most influential disc jockeys, music executives and industry stakeholders for a night dedicated to honouring excellence in Ghana’s DJ culture. The ceremony, held on Saturday, November 29, at the Palms Convention Centre in Accra, highlighted the outstanding contributions of DJs whose work continues to shape music consumption, nightlife and entertainment across the country.
This year’s edition, themed “Shake the Floor,” saw DJ Sly King emerge as the Overall DJ of the Year, the most prestigious award of the night. Entering the event with eight nominations, the highest of any contender. He secured the top honour and received a state-of-the-art Pioneer DDJ-Rev7 controller as part of his prize package.
The awards ceremony recognised exceptional performances across multiple areas of the craft, from radio and event DJing to technical skill sets and genre-specific specialisations. Notable winners included: Overall DJ of the Year – DJ Sly King, Lifetime Achievement Award – Doreen Andoh, Event DJ of the Year – DJ Lord OTB, Female DJ of the Year – TMSK DJ, Afrobeats DJ of the Year – DJ Fantastic, Artiste DJ of the Year – DJ Tedd (Medikal’s DJ), Best International (Non-Ghanaian) DJ – DJ San Gabriel, Best International Ghanaian DJ – DJ Fiifi, Reggae/Dancehall DJ of the Year – DJ Bounty, Scratch DJ of the Year – DJ Coleda, Discovery DJ of the Year – DJ Donkay, Student DJ of the Year – DJ Blake, Nocturnal People’s Choice – DJ Wallpaper and Night Club DJ of the Year – Selector Shaker (Twist Night Club)
In addition, Medikal’s hit single SHOULDER won DJ’s Song of the Year, reflecting its strong rotation across clubs, radio platforms and events nationwide.
The 2025 ceremony delivered a dynamic blend of live performances and curated DJ sets that kept the auditorium consistently energised. Artistes including Medikal, Fameye, Keche and the emerging duo Lali X Lola took to the stage with crowd-pleasing performances.
Founder of the awards scheme, Merqury Quaye, also delivered a special DJ set that paid tribute to the culture the event seeks to elevate.
Since its inception, the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards has established itself as the premier platform for celebrating Ghana’s DJ community, recognising both seasoned professionals and emerging talents. The 2025 edition reinforced the growing influence of DJs in entertainment, artistry and audience experience, while highlighting the industry’s continued evolution and global relevance.
The ceremony concluded with renewed calls for greater investment, innovation and support for the DJ ecosystem, emphasising its indispensable role in Ghana’s broader entertainment landscape.
