Ghanaian singer, pianist and tech-professional-turned-creative, Effs, returned to 3Music TV with a story far richer, deeper and more intentional than the last time she sat on the Morning Bite set. What seemed like a simple music update unfolded into a portrait of resilience, a woman navigating motherhood, divorce, artistry and ambition while refusing to shrink or apologise for her becoming.
Effs’ entry into mainstream recognition began with I LIKE THAT, a track that gained momentum across borders due to its global sound. This led to her meeting rapper Medikal, a collaboration she had been manifesting long before it happened.
The connection was instant.
Fluid, spontaneous, unfiltered, exactly the artistic energy she admired in Medikal.
He quickly jumped on the remix, and soon she was opening his O2 performance. A rare opportunity for a new Ghanaian act and one that affirmed her creative confidence.
“It showed me that I can do whatever I want. No limitations.”
The performance opened doors across the Ghanaian diaspora in London. It also gave her the credibility many artistes spend years chasing.
Unlike many new musicians, Effs is unapologetically multidimensional. A trained pianist, a corporate tech professional and now a growing creative voice with a loyal American and African diaspora audience.
She rejects the industry’s pressure to choose one lane.
“I’m doing this because I want to. I’m not boxing myself. I’m allowed to be many things.”
Her rising online monologues, commentary and mini-show The Official Effs Show are expanding her footprint beyond music into storytelling and lifestyle commentary.
Effs’ latest music video TURNING POINT was shot in a private 15th-century British manor, a location that had never in history been approved for a music video.
After personally requesting a meeting with the owner, sharing her identity as a Ghanaian artiste, and presenting her vision of African elegance merging with British heritage, she won his trust.
She became the first and only artiste to shoot a music video at Lady M Hall now sold shortly after her shoot, making her achievement permanently historic.
For creative direction, she flew acclaimed Ghanaian filmmaker Asihene from Ghana to the UK, insisting on a director who could tell a meaningful, intentional visual story rather than simply delivering another trendy video.
In a moment of raw honesty, Effs revealed that during the filming of the video, her marriage of many years was silently coming undone.
A mother of two, she had kept her family life deliberately private until privacy no longer served her healing.
“I want people to see the human being, not just the artiste. Celebrity culture has changed. We want what’s real.”
The months that followed were filled with emotional turbulence, introspection and eventually acceptance. Her separation became the true TURNING POINT behind the art.
Effs shared that one of her biggest personal decisions was giving up alcohol, symbolically and spiritually tied to letting go of a relationship she once fought to preserve.
“I wanted to feel everything. No numbing. No shortcuts. Healing is jagged, not linear.”
Music became therapy. She wrote more than ever rage songs, grief songs, clarity songs including one titled TREACHEROUS.
Through it all, she remained fully present for her children.
Two of the most heart-warming revelations were about her sons both budding stars in their own right.
Haruki, her eldest, is a piano prodigy:
He began playing at 9 months, Grade 1 ABRSM distinction at age 3 (a record-breaking achievement) and now Grade 6 at age 8.
He's growing audiences on YouTube and TikTok and is set to appear on Britain’s Got Talent and is applying for The Piano TV show.
Her younger son Coco, she says, is a natural vocalist with extraordinary rhythm.
Effs is gearing up for a lively December release. A vibrant, upbeat record symbolising her re-awakening after a heavy emotional year. She is launching content around tech entrepreneurship, merging her corporate experience with storytelling.
She is developing The Official Effs Show to speak on culture, relationships, politics and everyday human issues.
She continues building her artistic identity as a hybrid of Ghanaian elegance and British heritage.
Effs’ interview was less a media appearance and more a masterclass in evolving through life’s storms.
From global stages to personal heartbreak, from raising prodigy sons to redefining her own creative voice, she stands tall in a season she describes simply as: “Party phase. I’ve cried, I’ve healed, now it’s time to live.”
