The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of a suspect following a viral video showing the unauthorised discharge of a firearm during a public event.
The suspect, identified as Abubakari Sadick, popularly known as "Cyborg," was taken into custody on December 29, 2025, in Adenta. The arrest follows an investigation by the CID’s Cyber Vetting Team into a video depicting Sadick firing a weapon at El-Wak Stadium in Accra on December 28.
During the operation, police successfully retrieved the weapon used in the video, a Derya MK-12 firearm with registration number 22-GHA-1162. The firearm has been secured as evidence for the upcoming legal proceedings.

Press Release
According to official statements, the Cyber Vetting Team played a crucial role in identifying the suspect through digital monitoring, highlighting the Police Service's increasing capability to track criminal activity originating on social media platforms.
In light of this incident, the Ghana Police Service has issued a stern reminder to the public regarding the responsibilities of gun ownership. In the official press release, Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer for the CID, cautioned that a license is not a blank check for public display or indiscriminate use.
