Easter celebrations in Ghana took on a fresh and vibrant twist in 2026 as the Central Region hosted the maiden edition of the Gomoa Easter Carnival. The four-day cultural and entertainment festival, held from April 2nd to April 5th, was spearheaded by Gomoa Central MP Kwame Asare Obeng and supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts.
Staged across multiple communities within Gomoa, the carnival was designed to expand Ghana’s Easter tourism beyond traditional hotspots like Kwahu. The multi-location event brought together music, culture and community engagement, drawing large crowds from across the country and creating a dynamic festival experience.
A major highlight of the carnival was the standout performances from Shatta Wale and Sarkodie. Shatta Wale delivered an electrifying set packed with hit songs and high-energy crowd interaction, transforming the venue into a vibrant dancehall arena. Sarkodie followed with a commanding performance, showcasing his lyrical prowess and stage presence while engaging fans with a polished and captivating set.
Beyond the headline acts, the festival featured an impressive lineup of Ghanaian stars, including Samini, Kwabena Kwabena, Ofori Amponsah, KK Fosu, Bisa Kdei and Kofi Nti, offering a rich blend of musical and cultural expression.
More than just a concert series, the Gomoa Easter Carnival served as a strategic tourism initiative aimed at boosting local economies while spotlighting the cultural identity of the Gomoa area. With a successful debut and strong public response driven in part by standout performances from Shatta Wale and Sarkodie, the festival has quickly positioned itself as a rising highlight on Ghana’s Easter celebration calendar.
