Guinness
World Records (GWR), said it has yet to recognize the efforts of 27-year-old
Nigerian chef Hilda Baci in breaking the existing 87 hours and 45 minutes cooking
marathon set in 2019 by Indian Chef Lata Tondon.
In
response to a Twitter user who questioned why GWR had not said anything about
Hilda Baci, the organization issued an official statement stating that they are aware
of the marvellous work of the Nigerian chef and that they must follow the
established process of reviewing all evidence regarding the cooking marathon
before bestowing any form of achievement on her.
Even
though there were no GWR representatives on site, CCTV cameras were installed
to keep an eye on the event.
Hilda
Baci intended to cook for 96 hours, but she increased the period to 100 hours
thanks to the encouragement from fans and family who flocked to the venue to support
her. Hilda is said to have made over 100 dishes in 100 hours.
Her efforts drew praise from the general public, including celebrities such as Tiwa Savage, Nigeria's Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Baci
has competed in several cooking competitions, including Jollof Faceoff, where
she defeated her Ghanaian opponent.
