Ghanaian rapper Ko-Jo Cue and Nigerian vocalist Jiire Smith delivered a standout live performance on 3Music TV’s Culture Daily, earning widespread praise from the hosts and production team. The pair performed their collaborative track FRIUT OF THE WOMB, a record featured on Ko-Jo Cue’s newly released album KANI: A BANTAMA STORY.
The performance, marked by vocal precision and strong emotional delivery, was described by the hosts as “one of the best live moments on the show this year.”
Speaking on how the collaboration came together, Ko-Jo Cue explained that his process is guided by instinct. “When I hear music, I immediately know who should be on it,” he said. “As soon as I heard Jiire’s tone, I knew he was the right voice for this record.”
Jiire recorded his contribution in a single take, noting that the song’s themes around motherhood and personal growth resonated deeply with him.
“If you do not feel the music emotionally, it shows,” Jiire added. “This one came straight from the heart.”
Although the two had worked remotely, their appearance on Culture Daily marked the first time they met in person.
Despite this, their on-stage chemistry appeared seamless, impressing both the hosts and the studio audience.
Jiire, who lives in Abu Dhabi, shared how he initially discovered Rain Labs, the music marketing platform led by Ko-Jo Cue and his team. After persistent outreach, he eventually joined their network.
“I wanted people to hear him,” Ko-Jo Cue said. “His talent deserved a platform.”
Jiire Smith is preparing to release a new EP in February 2026 and is gradually shaping a distinctive sound influenced by soul, R&B and contemporary African rhythms. He also revealed a performance recorded in Abu Dhabi for Apple Music, set to be released soon.
Despite increasing attention, Jiire says he is intentional about feature requests. “I want to understand my sound fully before taking on too many collaborations,” he said.
KANI: A BANTAMA STORY marks one of Ko-Jo Cue’s most personal projects to date.
The 17-track album is narrated by his mother and explores his upbringing in Bantama, the pressures of school life and the emotional transitions of youth.
Cue disclosed that he attended eleven different schools before completing junior high school, an experience that shaped the themes and storytelling across the project.
“Every song is rooted in real experiences,” he stated.
The episode concluded with an unscripted a cappella performance involving Ko-Jo Cue, Jiire Smith and the Culture Daily team showcasing vocal range, creativity and live musicianship without instrumental backing.
