Manchester United's Mason Greenwood has officially joined Olympique de Marseille on a permanent transfer, bringing an end to his tumultuous tenure at Old Trafford.

The 21-year-old forward has signed a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 club, committing his future to Marseille until 2029. The transfer fee is reported to be in the region of £25m-£26.6m, with add-ons included in the deal. Manchester United have also secured a sell-on clause, ensuring they will receive a significant share of any future transfer fee.

Greenwood's move to Marseille marks a fresh start for the talented youngster, who spent last season on loan at Getafe in Spain. During his time at Manchester United, Greenwood made 129 appearances and scored 35 goals since his debut in 2019.

However, his transfer has been met with controversy due to past off-field issues. Despite this, Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi has publicly defended Greenwood, stating that he considers him like a son and will support him through any challenges.

As Greenwood begins his new chapter in France, fans and critics alike will be watching closely to see how he revitalizes his career at Marseille.
