Mavin Records Celebrates 13 Years of Afrobeats Excellence
MAVIN RECORDS
On May 8th, 2025, Mavin Records, the Nigerian music powerhouse founded by Don Jazzy, commemorated its 13th anniversary, marking over a decade of shaping the Afrobeats genre and propelling African music onto the global stage.

Since its inception in 2012, Mavin Records has been instrumental in discovering and nurturing a plethora of artistes who have become household names, including Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal, Reekado Banks, and Korede Bello. The label’s current roster boasts talents like Rema, Ayra Starr, Johnny Drille, Ladipoe, Crayon, Bayanni, Boy Spyce, and Lifesize Teddy. Collectively, Mavin artists have amassed over 40 billion streams globally, underscoring the label’s impact on the music industry.

In a significant move to bolster its global presence, Mavin Records entered into a partnership with Universal Music Group (UMG) in February 2024. This alliance aims to accelerate Mavin’s strategic advancement, providing more opportunities to break talent globally and expand its reach across Africa and beyond.

Don Jazzy, reflecting on the label’s journey, expressed gratitude to all who have contributed to Mavin’s success, emphasizing the collective effort in building a legacy for Nigeria, Africa, and the global music community. Chief Operating Officer Tega Oghenejobo echoed this sentiment, highlighting the team’s pride in their accomplishments and their ambition to continue breaking new talents and expanding into more territories.

Demonstrating a commitment to social impact, Mavin Records partnered with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative in June 2024 to empower beneficiaries through the provision of poultry farming starter materials and food relief boxes. This initiative, in celebration of Ayra Starr’s birthday, reflects the label’s dedication to giving back to the community and supporting sustainable development.

As Mavin Records celebrates 13 years of shaping the sound of Afrobeats, it continues to set the standard for excellence in the music industry, with a focus on innovation, talent development, and global outreach.
