Police Inspector Self-Funds Rebuilding Of Fire-Damaged Barracks Room

Inspector Yaw Agyekum of the Sakumono District Police, under the Baatsona Division, is being commended for an act of personal responsibility, dedication, and selflessness.

A room assigned to him at the police barracks was destroyed by fire a year ago. With the necessary repairs yet to be carried out, Inspector Agyekum took the initiative to personally fund the restoration of the facility.

Using his own resources, he repaired the roof, undertook the necessary electrical works and repainted the room, restoring it to a condition suitable for occupation.

After completing the renovation, Inspector Agyekum handed the room over to another officer who had been assigned to occupy it, without requesting reimbursement from the Ghana Police Service.

His gesture also highlights some of the challenges officers can face when limited resources and competing institutional demands delay the support they require.

While adequate logistical and welfare support remains essential for personnel to effectively carry out their duties, Inspector Agyekum’s initiative demonstrates a strong sense of responsibility, service, and commitment to his colleagues and the institution.
