Shakira is set to return as the vibrant pop star Gazelle in Disney’s ZOOTOPIA 2, with the first teaser trailer released on May 20, 2025, sparking excitement among fans. The Colombian superstar, who voiced Gazelle in the 2016 original, will once again bring her vocal prowess and signature dance moves to the fiercely independent antelope, complete with a new look and an original song. 

Announced at D23 Brazil in November 2024, Shakira’s return promises a fresh take on Gazelle, who captivated audiences with her shimmering, belly-dancer-inspired coin skirt and the triple-platinum anthem TRY EVERYTHING.

In Zootopia 2, directed by Oscar winners Jared Bush and Byron Howard, Gazelle joins returning characters Judy Hopps voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin and Nick Wilde voiced by Jason Bateman as they tackle a complex case involving a mysterious reptile, Gary De’Snake voiced by Ke Huy Quan. 

The trailer showcases Judy, Nick, and Gary fleeing from police through Zootopia’s vibrant streets, encountering a cryptic hooded figure with glowing eyes. New characters, including a beaver named Nibbles voiced by Fortune Feimster and a role by Quinta Brunson, add depth to the sprawling animal metropolis. 

Shakira’s Gazelle, a beloved symbol of equality and justice, is expected to deliver a performance that blends her iconic charisma with the sequel’s expanded world, further elevating the stakes in this animated adventure.
