After 3 months of intense ideation and challenging choice casting by the Academy, the die is cast. The annual 5th 3Music Awards returns this year with an official launch and Nominees Announcement set for Friday 11th February, 2022.
As is the tradition, the Nominees Announcement will kick start the first of many events leading up to the most important music awards event in Ghana. This year the show has been augmented with several new features and categories to reflect the times and demands. The African Act of the Year category has been altered to African Song of the Year while an Afrobeats/AfroPop Act of the year category has been added alongside the existing Afrobeats/Afropop Song of the Year category.
2022 represented one of the most productive years in Ghanaian
music history with over 1,200 songs covering several music genre categories
published across the various digital streaming and distribution platforms.
Even more songs of
Ghanaian origin within the nation’s marginalized regions as well as beyond
Ghana were all reviewed for awards
consideration, making this the most comprehensive and equitable music awards
scheme in Ghanaian music history. The nominees announcement will be broadcast live on 3Music TV and all 3Music social handles.
Africa awaits with bated breath in anticipation of what this year holds for the most daring and revolutionary awards event on the continent. But first, the nominees…!!
