Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Obeng Kwame Asare, popularly known as A Plus, said Ghana’s largest artificial waterfall project will be completed and commissioned on Easter Monday in 2027.

According to the MP, the project forms part of broader tourism and economic development plans being pursued under the Gomoa Special Economic Zone (GSEZ) and is expected to become a major attraction for both local and international visitors.

A Plus disclosed this in a social media post after meeting President John Dramani Mahama to provide updates on the implementation of the government’s 24-Hour Economy agenda, the Gomoa Special Economic Zone, and tourism-related projects.

He said he had recently travelled from China to the United Kingdom to brief the President on progress made so far and assured him that the waterfall project would be completed within his tenure.

“Phase One of this transformational project; the waterfall itself, is scheduled for completion and commissioning on Easter Monday, 2027,” A Plus stated.

He explained that the waterfall is being designed as a major tourism attraction and would be visible from the Accra-Cape Coast Highway. The project is also expected to feature dancing fountains, lighting systems and water displays.

The Gomoa Central MP further revealed that he had met in China with Mr. Wu, whom he described as a pioneer in the development and operation of large-scale artificial waterfall projects.

According to him, Mr. Wu is expected to travel to Ghana in the coming days to inspect the proposed site and begin technical assessments required for the design and fabrication of specialised equipment for the project.

A Plus said the development would be powered entirely by solar energy to ensure sustainability and reduce operational costs.

“To ensure sustainability and affordability, the entire development will be powered by solar energy,” he said.

He also expressed confidence that the wider Gomoa Eco Park project, a flagship component of the Gomoa Special Economic Zone, would be fully operational before the end of President Mahama’s term in office.

The MP said the initiative forms part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s tourism sector and position the country as a leading destination on the continent.

He added that while the project would draw inspiration from successful developments elsewhere, it would be designed to reflect Ghanaian and African identity, culture and creativity.

The proposed waterfall and eco-park development is expected to form part of a broader strategy by the MP, aimed at attracting investment, creating jobs and expanding tourism opportunities in his constituency.
