Renowned Ghanaian actress and media personality Ama K Abebrese has taken to social media to voice concern over recent governmental appointments in Ghana. In a post on X, she highlighted the troubling trend of appointing men with documented histories and allegations of sexual assault or harassment to high-ranking positions.

“There is no serious country that will appoint men who have a documented history and allegations of sexual assault/sexual harassment against females to high governmental positions,” Abebrese tweeted. “It sends the message that men can abuse females and be rewarded. Do Better Ghana.”

Her statement has reignited conversations around accountability, gender equality and the standards to which public officials should be held. Critics argue that allowing individuals with such allegations to occupy influential positions not only undermines the fight against sexual harassment but also sends a dangerous message about societal values.

Ama K Abebrese’s call comes amid growing public issue of safeguarding women in professional and political spheres. Advocates say that systemic reforms are needed to ensure that appointments are based not only on competence but also on ethical conduct and respect for human rights.

As debates continue,Ama K Abebrese’s intervention serves as a reminder of the crucial role public figures play in holding institutions accountable and shaping public discourse on gender and ethics.
