Antoine Semenyo Makes History As First Ghanaian In PFA Premier League Team Of The Year
Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has been named in the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Premier League Team of the Year for the 2025/26 season, becoming the first Ghanaian player ever to earn the honour.
The Manchester City forward was selected by his peers following a standout campaign in which he scored 17 Premier League goals. Semenyo joined City from Bournemouth in January 2026 and continued his strong form, contributing to the club’s domestic cup successes.
He is the only Ghanaian in the 11-man side, which was announced on Tuesday, 25 August 2026. The team features five Arsenal players — goalkeeper David Raya, defenders Gabriel Magalhães, William Saliba and Jurrien Timber, plus midfielder Declan Rice — reflecting the Gunners’ Premier League title win.
Manchester City have four representatives: Nico O’Reilly, Rayan Cherki, Erling Haaland and Semenyo. Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes and Brentford striker Igor Thiago complete the line-up.
The PFA Team of the Year is voted for by professional players and is regarded as one of the most prestigious individual recognitions in English football. Semenyo’s inclusion marks a landmark moment for Ghanaian football.
