Fancy Gadam Explains How Collaboration With Rudeboy Came Together

Fancy Gadam has revealed how a chance conversation eventually led to his collaboration with Nigerian musician Rudeboy on a new song.

The Ghanaian musician said the collaboration began after he met Shatta Bandle in Tamale and expressed interest in working with Rudeboy, whom he had listened to since his days as part of the Nigerian duo P-Square.

 Fancy Gadam said Shatta Bandle helped connect him with Rudeboy. According to him, they initially spoke over a video call before maintaining contact for about three years.

“I told a guy that I would love to bring him to the north one day,” Fancy Gadam said.

He explained that he had to wait until he had enough resources to fund the collaboration and related activities.

When he eventually decided to proceed, his team contacted Rudeboy’s management, and negotiations began.

Fancy Gadam said the agreement covered both the collaboration and a concert.

He initially sent Rudeboy a song for his contribution, but the Nigerian musician suggested another beat.

Rudeboy eventually sent a chorus with space for Fancy Gadam to add his verse.

The song focuses on leaving a relationship that has become emotionally damaging.

Fancy Gadam said Rudeboy later asked him to add another verse because he wanted him to have a stronger presence on the song.

The two artistes eventually met in the studio in Nigeria to work on the final arrangement.

Fancy Gadam said the collaboration was not difficult for him because the concept of the song came from Rudeboy’s perspective on a relationship where one person feels unappreciated.

The release is part of Fancy Gadam’s continued effort to expand his collaborations beyond Ghana while maintaining his northern Ghanaian identity.

The musician said his work with artistes from different markets has shown that music from northern Ghana can connect with audiences beyond the region.

He said the song had already recorded about 600,000 users on TikTok and approximately 470,000 views on YouTube at the time of the interview.

He encouraged listeners who had not heard the song to check it out on streaming platforms.

Fancy Gadam has built his career around a strong northern Ghanaian audience while increasingly collaborating with artistes from other parts of Ghana and beyond.
