Bruno Fernandes Wins PFA Players’ Player Of The Year After Record-Breaking Season

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been named the Professional Footballers’ Association Players’ Player of the Year for the 2025-26 season.

The Portugal midfielder claimed the prestigious award, voted for by his fellow professionals, after an outstanding campaign in which he set a new Premier League record with 21 assists. He also scored nine goals in 35 league appearances, helping United finish third and secure a return to the Champions League.

Fernandes becomes the first Manchester United player to win the honour since Wayne Rooney in 2010. He had already collected the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season awards, completing a clean sweep of the major individual prizes.

Speaking after receiving the award, Fernandes said: “It has a different meaning to the other trophies I’ve won.” He described himself as very proud and grateful for the recognition.

The 31-year-old beat a strong shortlist that included Arsenal’s Declan Rice, David Raya and Gabriel Magalhães, as well as Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki.
