The Black Queens faced a significant challenge against Namibia's Gladiators but managed to secure their qualification for the upcoming competition in Morocco next year. This marks Ghana's return to the continental stage after narrowly missing out on the last tournament in 2022. The upcoming event in Morocco will be the first time the Black Queens participate in the WAFCON since hosting it in 2018. Despite trailing 1-0 in the away return fixture after a 3-1 lead in the previous week's home leg, the Black Queens showcased their quality and experience, ultimately prevailing 3-2 overall.
Coach Nora Hauptle experienced her first defeat since recently taking charge, and the match was a closely contested battle between ambitious rivals. Two-time champions Equatorial Guinea failed to qualify after a 2-1 defeat by DR Congo, who secured their place at the women's competition with a 3-2 aggregate victory. Botswana earned their spot in the tournament by defeating Kenya 1-0 in Gaborone, advancing 2-1 on aggregate.
In other matches, Tunisia secured qualification by holding Congo to a 1-1 draw, winning the tie 6-3 on aggregate. Senegal drew 0-0 with Egypt to qualify with a convincing 4-0 aggregate, while Mali won 3-0 against Guinea, securing a 10-2 aggregate victory. Tanzania qualified for WAFCON despite a 1-0 loss to Togo, advancing 3-1 on aggregate after winning the first leg.
Zambia emerged as the standout winners, crushing Angola 6-0 to secure a commanding 12-0 aggregate victory. Nigeria confirmed their place in the tournament with a 2-1 away win against Cape Verde, qualifying with a 7-1 aggregate score.
