Pile-Up Crash Blocks Accra-Kumasi Highway At Birimso Bridge

A pile-up crash involving a high-occupancy passenger bus, a loaded articulated truck and a sedan has blocked the Accra-Kumasi Highway at Birimso Bridge, affecting traffic in both directions.

In a statement, the Ghana Police Service said the crash occurred on the N6 Highway, resulting in a complete blockade of the road for Accra-bound and Kumasi-bound motorists.

The police said the Eastern South Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) team from Kibi has been deployed to the scene and has introduced temporary traffic diversions to manage the situation.

According to the statement, Accra-bound traffic is being redirected through Kibi at Nsutam, while Kumasi-bound vehicles are being diverted through Apedwa.

The Ghana Police Service has urged motorists and other road users to cooperate with officers on the ground as they work to clear the obstruction and restore normal traffic flow on the highway.
