Agbogbloshie Traders Call On Gov't To Fix Muddy Market Roads

Agbogbloshie Traders Call On Gov't To Fix Muddy Market Roads
Agbogbloshie Market

Traders and customers at Agbogbloshie market in Accra are calling on governments to fix the roads within the market to facilitate trading activities.

The Agbogbloshie market which has served as both wholesale and retail spots for most traders across the country has been feeding Ghanaians for generations.

Despite the fame and economic contribution of the market, traders are lamenting about the nature of the roads in the market that have become muddy and slippery after downpours.

The situation has left traders in worry as they told 3Music TV that they are making low sales due to customers choosing elsewhere.

A trader shared that the muddy roads are turning customers away and appealed to the government for assistance in fixing the road.

"Thursdays are market days but due to the mad on a road customers are not coming around. We are pleading with authorities to fix the road, a lot of customers are falling in the mud and this discourages them," the trader said.

Another trader also questioned the use of the tolls taken from them.

"If customers come here, they fall down but government take tolls from us. What exactly are they doing with it to help us? The government should help fix the road to attract more customers," she stated.

Agbogbloshie market has been a backbone of Ghana's food supply chain and the roads within and leading to the market are as essential as the goods.
