Kuami Eugene Calls For Stronger Promotion Of Ghanaian HIGH LIFE Globally

Kuami Eugene believes Ghana has not done enough to promote High Life music internationally, despite the genre’s influence on many contemporary African sounds.

The Rockstar musician said high life already has a strong foundation and history but needs more deliberate efforts from Ghanaians to position it on the global stage.

Speaking on Pluzz 89.9 FM, he compared the global recognition of genres such as Amapiano and Afrobeats to High Life, saying Ghana has not consistently marketed its own sound.

He said high life existed long before some of the globally recognised African genres and referenced the influence of Ghanaian musicians who helped spread the sound over the years.

Kuami Eugene said the challenge is not the quality of the music but the lack of collective effort in promoting it.

He noted that other countries often strongly identify with and promote their cultural sounds, while Ghanaians sometimes fail to push their own creations with the same energy.

The musician, however, acknowledged that high life remains relevant and said the genre is already present on global streaming platforms, although it has not been fully identified and promoted.

He mentioned that several young musicians, including KiDi, King Promise, Black Sherif and others, are contributing to the continued growth of Ghanaian music.

Kuami Eugene also revealed that he is preparing to release two new songs before the end of 2026, with the first expected in two weeks.
