Rapper and entrepreneur D-Black said his hit single Vera which was released in 2012 was a mistake. He continued that the plan was to release Change Your Life featuring E.L.
Speaking to the Culture Squad, Desmond Kwasi Blackmore said he made more money from the song Vera than any other song.
He further said Reggie Rockstone was the one who encouraged him to rap in Twi in order to penetrate the Ghanaian market. This is what resulted in the blend of pidgin and English in the for Vera.
D-Black is known popularly for rapping in English and he refers to himself as a Hip hop artiste.
''Vera was Reggie Rockstone telling me you should do a song in Twi so that you would be one of the commercially successful artistes in Ghana. But I said I don't have a grasp on the Twi language to make a song in Twi.'' He added that Reggie Rockstone advised him to make D Cryme write rap songs in Twi for him which he refused and later decided to translate the lyrics of Vera from English into Pidgin.
D-Black also stated, ''I made more money than I ever did in my whole life from Vera. I bought a Range Rover from Vera''
The song which was popularly known as Oh Vera was released in 2012 featuring Joey B. The song released 11 years ago has over a million views on YouTube and produced by Krynkman.
The Black Avenue Muzik president further said he had endorsement deals from brands after the song went viral and also he performed on many shows when he made waves.
