The legal dispute between rapper DDG and actress-singer Halle Bailey has taken another public turn, as a judge has denied DDG’s request for a temporary restraining order against the Little Mermaid star. The court decision comes after Halle filed her own motion opposing DDG’s request and outlining concerns about her ability to travel for work and protect her son’s privacy amid the ongoing custody battle.
In court documents filed by Halle Bailey, the singer requested that the judge not only deny DDG’s restraining order, but also grant her permission to travel internationally with their infant son due to work commitments. The motion emphasized Halle’s professional obligations, particularly those requiring her to leave the country, and argued that denying her ability to travel would jeopardize her career.
In addition, Halle requested that the court issue an order preventing DDG, his friends, and family from posting about their child, the legal proceedings, or her on social media or in public spaces. The motion underlined concerns for her son’s privacy and safety, amid growing online attention and speculation.
Halle’s filing also revealed that DDG, whose real name is Darryl Granberry Jr., only filed for the restraining order on June 4th, a move she claims came despite earlier efforts on her part to arrange monitored visits between him and their child. According to her, those attempts were ignored by DDG, raising questions about the timing and motivation behind his legal actions.
DDG and Halle Bailey’s relationship became public in 2022 and was closely followed by fans. In late 2023, rumors began circulating about a breakup, followed by speculation in 2024 that Halle was pregnant, which she confirmed indirectly during high-profile appearances, including the 2024 Oscars.
In early 2025, Halle confirmed she had given birth to a son, Halo, and has since spoken candidly about motherhood in interviews, though she has remained largely private about her co-parenting situation. DDG, however, has frequently addressed their relationship status and fatherhood on his YouTube channel and social media, leading to some friction between the two public figures.
With the restraining order denied and Halle’s motion now on the table, the court is expected to consider her request for travel permission and the proposed privacy protections in the coming weeks. While the custody case continues to unfold behind closed doors, the battle over public narratives and parenting rights remains a central—and very visible—part of this high-profile legal drama.
