International reggae star Gramps Morgan has revealed that a recent DNA test indicates he is 46 percent Ghanaian.

This means that the artiste has ancestral roots traced back to the West African country.

He revealed this during his presentation at the High-Level Consultative Conference on “Next Steps” under the United Nations Resolution on enslaved Africans in Accra on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

The Jamaican singer said the DNA results confirmed strong Ghanaian ancestry as part of his own quest to know where he comes from.

“I am one of the children of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade. I have done research to find out the truth. When I did a DNA test, I found out that I am 46% Ghanaian. So let the truth be told,” he said.

The Wash The Tears hitmaker added that the discovery deepens the existing connection he has with Africa and the history of enslaved Africans found in the diaspora.

Morgan reiterated his support for several reparations calls being championed by Ghana.

Attending the conference were world leaders diplomats and stakeholders to discuss next steps towards implementing the United Nations framework on the legacy of slavery and its impact on descendants of enslaved Africans.
