Ghanaian singer Tiffany says she has no plans to sign with a record label as she prepares the next phase of her music career.
The artiste made the disclosure in the Big Conversation segment on the Culture Daily on 3Music TV and Pluzz 89.9 FM, while discussing her return to music after years away from the spotlight.
Asked whether she would consider joining a record label, Tiffany gave a direct response.
“No, I don’t want to sign a label,” she said.
The singer argued that many artistes under record deals are not always satisfied with their arrangements but may feel unable to speak openly about their experiences.
“I feel like most of the artists under labels, they’re unhappy, but they are not able to say,” she said.
Instead, Tiffany said she believes a strong and committed team can provide the support artists need without requiring them to sign away control of their careers.
“For me, I feel like if God gives me the right team, you can pull it off,” she said.
Her comments come as more Ghanaian artists explore independent routes to music distribution, promotion and management.
Tiffany said part of her decision was influenced by lessons learned earlier in her career.
Reflecting on her previous years in the industry, she said she was surrounded by too many people who were unwilling to challenge her decisions.
“I felt like the people around me were also a lot of yes men,” she said.
According to her, genuine support requires honesty and accountability rather than constant agreement.
“If I’m messing up and the person really has my best interest at heart, they should tell me,” she said.
The singer said her years away from music allowed her to reassess her professional relationships and better understand what she needs from a management team.
Now preparing an album and additional releases following the launch of Wura and Money, Tiffany says she is focused on building a sustainable career on her own terms.
“If I can’t do something, I won’t do it,” she said. “And I’m ready.”
