Minister for Communication Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam Nartey George has announced what may be one of the biggest in fibre broadband costs in recent years after a crucial meeting between government and MTN Ghana to improve Internet affordability.

The minister revealed that talks with MTN Ghana had resulted in significant reductions on unlimited fibre broadband packages in a social media post on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

He said that consumers will now pay GH¢299 for a one-month unlimited 100 Mbps subscription instead of GH¢987.

“Effective today, fibre broadband prices have crashed,” he wrote.

Customers can also sign up for a 300 Mbps unlimited broadband service for GH¢444 per month under the updated pricing structure and a 500 Mbps unlimited subscription would cost GH¢999.

According to the minister, the cut was in response to demands for more consistent, dependable, and reasonably priced broadband connections.

Sam George said the reduction came after several demands by Ghanaians for affordable and stable broadband services.

“You demanded. We engaged. MTN Ghana has responded,” he stated.

The Ningo Prampram MP also hailed the management and staff of MTN Ghana for their cooperation and swift response to consumers.

“I want to express my gratitude to the management and staff of MTN who have heeded our call for more affordable, stable and reliable fibre broadband,” he said.

The Minister reiterated that his outfit is working to sustain engagements with telecommunications providers to improve packages and services for Ghanaians.

“From the Ministry, we will continue to push for better service packages for the Ghanaian people,” he assured.
