Popular streamer and internet personality IShowSpeed has once again got football fans talking after revealing that he would choose to represent either Ghana or Portugal if he were drafted to play at the FIFA World Cup.

During a conversation with Brazilian football legend Ronaldo Nazário while livestreaming from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Speed boldly claimed that he plans to feature at the 2030 World Cup.

The content creator, whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr., joked that he could represent Ghana, Portugal, or even the United States when the next tournament comes around.

Speed's mention of Ghana comes as no surprise to many fans, following his well-publicized visits to the country and his embrace of Ghanaian culture over the past few years.

However, his admiration for Portugal is deeply rooted in his long-standing support for football icon Cristiano Ronaldo, whom he frequently refers to as his greatest sporting idol.

When Speed shared his World Cup ambitions with Ronaldo Nazário, the Brazilian legend responded humorously, telling him he would need "50 years" of preparation and still had to learn how to play football despite acknowledging his speed.

The exchange quickly went viral across social media.

While his comments were clearly made in jest, they have fueled fresh excitement among Ghanaian fans, many of whom have jokingly welcomed the streamer to the Black Stars.

With FIFA accrediting Speed to cover the 2026 World Cup and his profile continuing to grow within football circles, the entertainer remains one of the tournament's most talked-about personalities off the pitch.

Whether or not a World Cup call-up ever becomes reality, Speed has once again proven his ability to create memorable moments wherever football is involved.
