GES Warns Against Fake School Selection Notice

GES Warns Against Fake School Selection Notice
Ghana Education Service

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has described a widely distributed announcement stating that the 2026 school selection process for Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) students began on June 15, as false.

The GES warned candidates, parents, guardians, teachers, and the general public to ignore the information being disseminated on multiple platforms in a statement released on June 14.

According to the statement, the GES has not declared the beginning of the school selection process.

The Service claims that the notification in question misrepresented the requirement that candidates choose and submit five schools of their choice prior to the placement process.

The message also claimed that there was no submission deadline and advised parents and candidates to contact an unauthorised WhatsApp support line for help.

The Service stressed that the announcement should be completely ignored as it did not come from the Service.

It further stated that all official information regarding school placement and selection will be communicated via its approved channels and platforms.

The Service also warned parents and candidates not to interact with the people behind the fake announcement or give personal information, as this could expose gullible people to fraud and other types of exploitation.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service has advised interested parties to solely rely on information released through official government and education sector channels and to confirm any pronouncements pertaining to education before acting on them.
